Hello,
Im trying to fix up an old compaq presario 6000 - 6zpxe2.
Specs ->http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport
I just did a fresh install of windows xp; I dont have the original restore/driver disk, so I have my XP pro (sp3 w/ all updates) running in place of xp home.
I have all hardware working, except the network card, the device manager displays shows the ethernet network adaptor driver as not being installed. I cannot for the life of me find the drivers for it. I've downloaded and tried every update on the support and drivers page for this model, including the Nvidia nforce chipset drivers (which I expected to have it, but it didnt). I even have the same PC on the internetvia a wireless USB card, and tried automatically finding drivers on windows update (it didnt work).
The network car worked with the factory windows install prior to me doing the fresh install of XP; however i did not forsee the locating of this driver to be such a problem.
I've searched numerous forums/websites/etc for hours and found nothing that works, I cannot even get an accurate idea of who makes this particular NIC. I'm not a novice at this, it is as simple as the chipset driver not being installed.... but the driver seems to be missing in action.
Can anyone help me find the chipset drivers for this (they are NOT on the driver page for this machine!)
Thank you

Hello,
I just tried driver guide and found the chipset software I was looking for ( links and info below), this package includes drivers for the audio, ethernet, Smbus, and memory controller; everything you need. I'm not sure why this isnt on the driver/software download page, but its not. Hope this helps someone in the futures so you don't need to pull your hair out link me.
