Once it hangs or crashes, I have no more problems that day or any day if I leave it up! I have no power savings stuff enabled.
It is like the system needs to warm up and stay warm!

Yup, it likes warm for certain. In my case, with the old memory, it would crash/lock circa 30 minutes after a cold start.
With the new memory, as I said, it has only locked once, and this was about after 4 hours of operation.
Since activating any power savings stuff is certain death, clearly this is not a robust solution. The system is on the hairy edge.
I don't look forward to winter :-)
I don't understand why HP does not step in and take care of this.
New motherboards that have been TESTED should be sent to all of us suffering from this at no charge.
If you don't feel inclined to swap the motherboard, they should offer us a return deal with priority service.
That is what Bill and Dave would have done!

0x101 (A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval)
Bug Check Information (found here)
It appears to be only related to the manufacture of the processor, and doesn't seem to be fixable yet...a Google search shows that AMD and Intel both experience the problem across multiple operating systems. So...yeah...I would have to do a lot more research before finding a fix, if available.
There was one person who said it was related to the TV Tuner Card...so what you could do is remove all un-needed expansion cards and disconnect any unused cables/devices and try it again.

Hi,
I have no tuner, or any other "extra" hardware. The clock interrupt is one of a few possible messages and cannot be trusted.
The most common message is NO MESSAGE, just a complete siezure of the system.
I doubt that this is related to the Intel processor.
If it were, changing memory would have not been likely to have an effect on the system behavior. For me, it clearly had a positive effect.
Milage will vary.

No tuner.
I added a SATA BD read/write drive.
Yesterday I added a 2nd 750GB SATA drive - I now have RAID 1 (a problem with recovery now).

The memory has a direct connection to the CPU via the FSB...so perhaps that's why changing the memory affected it. The reality of the situation is that no one has an answer...so I'd say the CPU being the fail point is the best bet.

Cause
The specified processor is not processing interrupts. Typically, this occurs when the processor is nonresponsive or is deadlocked.

I have a positive update:
I was contacted by a very helpful HP employee who monitors this forum. He gave me several options and I have choosen to have a new computer sent to me. I will then return my current computer to him after removing my data and licensed programs from the system. He will then be able to test and work with the motherboard manufacturer.

I just bought my new desktop model number m9698d recently on 5th of October 2009. I am having this problem with crash show that ''A Clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within allocated time interval.'' I called the Hp technical support they ask mi to do a system restore then it was working properly but when i shut down the computer it will do the updates for my pc. after the updates i having the same problem again. this issue is had happened about 4 times.. any solution for this problem.
Need help as soon as possible. Because once the crash happened i have to perform an illegal shutting down by switching off the power supply and on it again which is bad for the desktop itself. So i need help as soon as possible
Thanx

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.
I suspect it is all related to: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.
