Hello,
I just received my new 8 processor h8z desktop. Beautiful machine. It has a "recovery" partition on the machine, but of course if the hard drive fails, I lose that. Is there a way to create "emergency repair" DVD disks so that if there was a new hard drive in the system, I could boot the DVDs and restore the HP system, WIndows 7, and all applications as if it was just delivered?
Thanks!

Sure. Click on the start orb and All Programs. Click on HP and Recovery Manager.
There should be a section called create recovery media below Recovery Manager.
That is what you need to use to create recovery media for emergency use. That is your copy of the operating system, software and drivers that were delivered with your desktop PC.
The only application you won't be able to reinstall is Microsoft Office starter if you are using that. That is a one time installation option.
If you have an external disk you can create an image of your entire hard disk to use for emergency. There are imaging products such as Macrium Reflect Free and Paragon Drive Backup that will enable you to create a snapshot of your hard disk. With that image saved to an external drive, recovering your PC is even simpler than using Recovery Manager. Recovering with an image is a one stop repair. You don't have to locate and install drivers and programs. Everything you had previously installed will be ready to use.

Thanks Erico, that worked perfectly, however I had some trouble finding the "Recovery Manager" on my new HP WIndows 7 Premium H8Z desktop, the "Recovery Manager" is nowhere in the START menus, or under any HP Folders in ALL PROGRAMS, I had to type "Recovery Manager" into the search box under the start menu in order to find it.
Cheers and thanks again!
