D:/ Factory Image Dr.

If your D:/  factory image drive gets full, how can your computer continue to make restore points? You can and shouldn't delete anything. What should you do?

Re: D:/ Factory Image Dr.

Hi,

The factory image partition should be stable in size and not growing.

Low disk space on the recovery partition.

Re: D:/ Factory Image Dr.

I tried to follow what the link you sent  told me to do, but my computer set up isn't the same. When I right click on my computer and go to the system protection it's different than what's discribed in the directions. I took a screen shot, but there's no where to attach it to this reply. I use windows 7, if that helps. The steps after that aren't the same either. What can I do? Thank you so much for hepling me, Also I noticed that ParetoLogic, a pc health software I have created a couple of restore points on drive d and there's a lot of window updates to.

[ Edited ]

I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I was sick and on bed rest. My operating system type is a 64bit operating system. My model number is s5220y. I have windows 7 and product id is [Personal Information Removed]. I couldn't follow the same steps as the the directions that your link lead me to.  Things were a different way.

Thanks,

Vicki

Re: D:/ Factory Image Dr.

[ Edited ]

Vicki,

Information in the LINK previously posted by Big_Dave still applies to your computer. From that HP webpage, "The purpose of the Factory Image or Recovery (D: ) drive is to store all the files needed to do an emergency recovery when the system become unstable... If you use the Recovery (D: ) drive to store files (such as files from using MS Backup), the drive quickly becomes full and can cause serious problems when you need to use system recovery. Do not store files on the Recovery drive. The only files on the Recovery drive should be related to a system recovery."

From your previous posts, it appears that restore points (either Windows or third party) are being created on your Factory Image (D: ) drive. You also stated that there are Windows update files on the Factory Image (D: ) drive. Nothing but the original factory files should be on the D: drive. Things like restore points, backups, or updates should be on the C: drive or an external storage location.

You should be able to post screen shots but it may take a day or two to get approved. You can try to follow the clean-up proceedure outlined in the LINK above or you can recovery your computer to a factory like state. Please create your HP Recovery Discs before attempting to clean-up or recover the hard drive.

Re: D:/ Factory Image Dr.

When I get to the step in folder options to click on disk D it isn't there. The hidden folders option is set on show hidden files & hide extentions & protected system operations is also unchecked. Disk D isn't there.

I know you said the directions you sent me were correct, but when I get to the step in folder options to click on disk D, it isn't there. The hidden folders option is set on show hidden files & hide extentions & protected system operations is also unchecked. Disk D isn't there. What should I do?

Re"D:/ Factory Image Dr.

Yes, it's there. I'm talking about the step the HP link  that was sent to me tells me how t delete the files off of it that don't belong there.

When I get to the step in folder options to click on disk D it isn't there. The hidden folders option is set on show hidden files & hide extentions & protected system operations is also unchecked. Disk D isn't there.
