Desktop PC Performance Tips

I didn't see anyone offer up these desktop PC support articles from HP. They are very helpful in making your PC perform better.

Increasing System Performance Without Adding Memory in Windows Vista

In Vista...if you don't care about graphical goodness... you can kill the Aero theme and you should immediately notice an improvement. However, a few applications out there require aero - like TouchSmart.

Increasing System Resources and Performance Without Adding Memory in Windows 95, 98, Me, and Windows...

Also... Physically removing components that you don't need can help improve performance. For example, many people are on broadband these days. IF your PC came with a dial-up modem card, you can take it out. This will give your case a little more "breathing room" and you will not need to run the LTmodem tasks. Of course, make sure you disconnect the power before removing any cards.

Re: Desktop PC Performance Tips

RB, good tips.  This thread should be floated by the admin.  Otherwise, it will not be seen by all.

I am going to add a link to the HP Support & Drivers page:

I have been on the forum since 2001 and helping since 2002.  I have posted this link dozens of times, but it still goes unused.
