Down grade from vista to xp

I need help on downgrading from Vista to XP Professional. I have the XP disc I bought yesterday and tried to install it but my system would not allow me. Can any one help and I have a 250 GB, 2.0 RAM Compaq Presario SR5413WM>>>

Are you booting from the XP cd? If so,what errors are you getting?
