I am curious about this as well. I know basically what I need to do, but am having some trouble.
I have created a new partition on the hard drive as space for the XP install.
Have my XP DVD handy, but when I boot to the CD and prepare for install, it gives me a BSOD after loading all the drivers.
I found that this is likely because of the pc having SATA drives and XP doesn't have drivers for that, so I went out into the torrent world and found some helpful programs to slipstream more drivers into the XP CD.
However, I either have found a bunch of drivers that aren't appropriate, don't work, or that really isn't my problem. I need help to make this happen as well. There are a few programs (mostly games) that just will NOT work in Windows 7.

Racer, yes, you can do a dual-boot with Win7 and XP Pro. However, it may be somewhat difficult to find drivers for your components. I have run a dual-boot system for several years. I have done it both ways; one hard drive, two partitions and two separate hard drives. I recommend two hard drives. This way you have an OS if one hard drive fails.
Here is a guide to help you.
