In trying to reinstall Microsoft Vista Service Pack 2, I get a catastrophic Error Unexpected 0x8000ffff. Microsoft has a Fixit tool for it, but when I download it, it displays a couple of zip folders. I get stuck at that point and don't know how to complete the Fixit process. Is anyone familiar with that tool and how to use it? Thanks.

Hi,
If you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip . With this installed, right click on the Zipped Folder, select 7-Zip, select extract files, then click Ok. You should now see a newly extracted folder which you can open as normal.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
DP-K
