HELP! My computer was infected with spyware -

I just spent a good 45 minutes with my internet provider and we determined that

I do have internet connection because there IS an IP address and we did

the PING test which said I was connected.

I have a desktop that is using the same netgear router that is feeding my wireless connections.

The problem is with my desktop; not my other labtop (which I am using right now).

The spywre is preventing me from viewing the internet and when I attempt

to connect, a bubble shows up that says it needs a User Name and Password and that it is

being required by www.routerlogin.com; and that this is an "insecure site."

The internet provider says that this is under Compaq's jurisdiction; but Compaq is charging

a huge fee for their advice.  What can I do????

Your help is most definitely appreciated!!!  Thank you..

Re: HELP! My computer was infected with spyware -

BTW, I have a Compaq with Prod# ER921AA; S/N: CNH619FZH

BTW, When I attempt to sign onto Internet Explorer, this message pops up:

"The server www.routerlogin.com at NETGEAR_WPN824v3 requires a username and password.

WARNING:  This server is requeting that your username and password be sent in an insecure

manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

Username: _____________

Password: ______________

Remember my Password __

"

So - ya, that's what it says...

Any advice???  Thanks so much, I need it! ~ needsuerte :-)

I also tried to type in 2 antivirus sites in the URL, and I wasn't able get through;

It popped up the same message as I said on the previous post.

Re: HELP! My computer was infected with spyware -

It's not Compaq or your ISP's problem. The things your seeing is being caused by your router. The settings are not set correctly and it's giving you all those popups. Contact Netgear and ask them to help solve the issue.
