No, the versions you sent are correct. Look at compatibility.

Re: HP MediaSmart DVD & HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video

Install the updates in this order (I don't think all updates are available). ALso... they should all be 64-bit compatible as all TouchSmart 500s and 800s were 64-bit (I think).

Update to TouchSmart 3.0 or greater by downloading all of the available Software Solution updates from www.hp.com/support . Install them in the order that follows.

The following versions (or later) of the various TouchSmart applications are compatible with Windows 7:

  • HP TouchSmart Application Update 3.0.32.0 (must be installed first!)
  • HP TouchSmart Webcam 3.0.1.1903
  • HP TouchSmart Calendar 3.0.3476.32189
  • HP TouchSmart Notes 3.1.3462.28879
  • HP TouchSmart RSS 3.0.0006
  • HP TouchSmart Browser 3.00.0008
  • HP TouchSmart Music/Photo/Video 3.0.2.3206
  • HP TouchSmart LiveTV 3.00.1924
  • HP TouchSmart DVD 3.0.1.3123
  • Hulu Desktop 0.9.7 (North America)
  • HP TouchSmart Netflix 1.0.29.0
  • HP TouchSmart Clock 3.0.3441.42630
  • HP TouchSmart Weather 3.00.0001

Re: HP MediaSmart DVD & HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video

Whoa... too many smarts (except for me)... my bad. Sorry about that.

Unfortunately this appears to be a known issue and hP is looking into it:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01778879

HP MediaSmart DVD 3.0 may fail to install in Windows 7 with the following error:

Error applying transforms.

Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

c:\hp\temp\src\1033.mst

HP is aware of this issue and is currently working on a fix.

Re: HP MediaSmart DVD & HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video

Thanks for the kudos.

Hmmmm, I know HP is looking into it... but now that I think about it. I would try one more thing.

Start in Safe Mode and delete all your temp files. Click Start, enter %temp% and delete everything inside.

Try to install the downloaded files in safe mode.

How can this topic be marked "Solved" when there is no definitive solution given?  I've tried everything suggested here and I still get the eroor message when I try to install the HP Mediasmart DVD update.

****BUMP****

This is marked as solved when it clearly isn't.

I still can't install this software after upgrading. Neither can i play bluray disks. Not ideal when your PC was bought to play them!!.

Is there any update from HP  ??

Re: HP MediaSmart DVD & HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video

There is a *solution* in reverting back to your original configuration in Vista via recovery and wait to upgrade when HP has made the updated drivers available. I know this is not the message you want to hear, but the updates to MediaSmart have not been released yet.

On the side... has anyone tried deleting the files in c:\hp\temp\ and installing sp44404 in Safe Mode? The file that gets copied to this directory probably refers to an existing file that is incompatible, but it's worth a shot. Please post back if it passes or fails.

I'd do it, but I don't have the error.

Re: HP MediaSmart DVD & HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video

Didn't try the last suggestion.  But another option for those like me trying to get a usable blu-ray drive I installed WinDVD 2010 after my upgrade and the problems with MediaSmart DVD.  It works great and I've been using my blu-ray with no issues.  I think personally HP dropped the ball by telling people to uninstall the MediaSmart DVD prior to Windows 7 upgrade!  Personally now that I have a working DVD/blu-ray program I'm good, and unless HP can find a fix that doesn't require me to totally re-install Vista and then re-install Windows 7 I will live without MediaSmart DVD.  I'll check in for a fix from time to time but beyond that HP's wasted enough of my time with this error.....
