HP Pavilion Elite m9441uk, XP drivers needed

I have installed a hard drive caddy so that I can have a Vista disc and an XP disc, as some of my applications will not run on Vista. I have installed XP and it boots OK, bit I need XP drivers especially for the Wi-Fi card so that I can get on line! Can anyone help with links for the drivers?

Thanks in advance.

Before you dump Vista make your recovery discs.

Install Chipset and reboot. Then continue installing all other drivers.

Lan:Realtek 8111C

Wireless LAN:

.net 1.1(for keyboard)

Also the sata drivers will need to be disabled and reinstalled.

Re: HP Pavilion Elite m9441uk, XP drivers needed

Thank you for the information.

I'm not dumping Vista - I have separate hard drives one for Vista booting and one for XP boot, inserted via HDD caddy.

Unfortunately, I'm not having much success!

  • Downloaded 'INFINST_AUTOL' from Intel but when I try to run it encounters an error and fails.
  • Tried to download the LAN driver from realtek but the 'GO' to download link on their site just redirects you to the top level download page, seems to be a circular reference.
  • Looked for the Wireless LAN driver at ralinktech, however there are several drivers there, I don't know which one is correct for my I/F card. I even removed the card to look for ID numbers but nothing resembled the numbers on the web site.

Further advice much appreciated.

  • The Intel files require  SP2   for XP.Do you have it installed?
  • Realtek dl is working for me now, have you tried again lately?
  • Wireless driver I believe is second in list

Re: HP Pavilion Elite m9441uk, XP drivers needed

Thank you very much for the advice and links. I now have a mostly functional XP system, although I haven't had time to test everything yet.

There is one further issue..... In order to get the XP boot disc to run install I had to set the SATA BIOS to IDE, I believe this is due to the lack of SATA controller drivers on the XP install disc.

Having installed XP and the INTEL G33 driver set for XP I thought I'd be able to return to the default 'RAID' setting in the SATA BIOS, however, the XP HDD will not run with a RAID setting and the VISTA HDD will not run with an IDE setting! Am I missing some SATA controller drivers?

It's not the end of the world but it is a drag to have to alter BIOS settings when I swop between boot discs.

Regards,    Joe.

Yes, you need to install the sata drivers again. Read this link and see if it helps.

Re: HP Pavilion Elite m9441uk, XP drivers needed

Wow, that was fast!

Do you mean that I've got to start again with another XP install from scratch + SP 2 + SP 3 + INTEL G33 + WLAN + LAN + Audio + KBD/Mouse....etc? Can't I just add in some SATA drivers?

Regards.

Re: HP Pavilion Elite m9441uk, XP drivers needed

Thanks again!

The link tells me to download 'Intel Matrix Storage Manager' from the manufacturers web site. When I try this for my machine on the HP site and browse to the driver for XP it produces a file sp40925.exe and although it claims to be compatible with XP it goes on to say that you have to have a Vista 64 operating system, and the setup will not complete.

If I extract the file it does seem to contain a bunch of drivers but how do I work out which are the correct ones, and do I have to do this for the 2 port and 4 port SATA controllers?

Thanks for your patience.   Regards.
