I have been trying all day to download the correct driver from HP website onto my computer and it has not worked.
I discovered that my CD/DVD Ram is not working and I called Tech support and they want to charge me $60 to help with this problem. I am unemployed at the moment would like to try and to restore it myself if possible. Could someone help me with this problem. The software driver is CD/DVD Ram GT30L SATA CdRom Device.
The error message I received was: code 32.

Hi,
Try this Microsoft FixIt article.
There is a firmware update for the CD/DVD drive in your PC. You are not going to be able to install it until Windwos can recognize the device.

Hi,
It's possible that you have an application on your PC that is interferring with the CD driver loading process. You might need to go back to a Windows restore point date when the CD drive was correctly functioning.
Media applications such as but not lmited to iTunes, Nero, Roxio and Cyberlink all "fiddle" with the driver loading process. I have seen driver loading get messed up so badly that a reinstall of the OS was the only thing that fixed the problem.

Yes, I thought of that, but the only problem with this is I need to go back further than just two months I believe. The restore did not give me an option of going back beyond January and I need to at least go back as far as four or five months ago. How can I make that happen?

Hi,
Why do you believe you need to go back more than two months?

I've tried several different restores and non of them worked. I recall trying to burn a DVD of my family pictures in October and was having some problems then. This is why I'm certain only two months will not be sufficient enough. I need to be able to go back to the month of at least October of 2011.

Hi,
Prior to the time that you had CD/DVD issues, what changes did you make to your PC? You can go into the Control Panel --> Programs and Features and then sort on installed date. This might point to an application that could be causing the issue.
You may have backed yourself into a corner by not resolving the issue sooner.
