HP Pavilion a1220n starts on cold boot, but gets error message on "restart".

On restart function, error message: " reboot and select proper boot service or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

Only way to start is to power down then up.  Windows loads.  What is problem with warm boot?

Running WIN 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

Unplug all of the USB devices except the keyboard and mouse.  Be sure that the CD drive is empty.

Try clearing the CMOS.

It sounds like your PC is trying to boot from LAN.  If that is the case then clearing the CMOS will change the any bios settings back to the default values.
