This board is my final attempt in getting assistance. Frustrated and upset as I have had NO productive assistance from online tech. or phone techs. Seems 'no one' can help. 12 hrs on phone yesterday, only to be told that their volume is extremely high due to existing problems with this PC. I was offered the option of a specialized tech. 1x service assistance for $154.
I have come to realize that although I have utilized HP Total Care Advisor, PC Heath & Help centers, the information is useless to me as I am unable to download/install any of the critical updates. I have huge list of all the glitches, updates, patches, etc. This unit is just over 1yr. old. Yesterday I found out that the waranty had been extended until Feb. 2011 because HP recognizes there are serious issues. But "what to do" when the 'tools' won't work?
Although I made backup/recovery discs... they did not work. I have lost, documents, photos and accounting info. For Christmas sake (it is the season), someone please direct me as to what my options are.
Thanks & Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to All!

Sorry to hear what you're going through.
You have problems installing Windows Updates or HP Updates?
What's the error message or code?
Reply and i'll respond ASAP.

Thank you again for taking the time to respond to my post. Actually the gods must have heard my screams of anguish. (lol). While attempting to copy the error#s for you I was once again prompted to download the critical updates.... All of them downloaded and installed EXCEPT NVIDIA Graphics. Not asking any questions... I did however also learn that HP is replacing mother boards on this product. Hoping I don't have to go there. This will certainly do for now, and after I return from Holiday I can check into the graphics update.
Again....thank you for wanting to help.

Ok now i know that you have that particular Hematite motherboard which in case of a problem with a no-boot or no-video HP can replace the motherboard for you.
I've seen it happen before.
But if there's no problems than that's good.
One more thing.
That NVIDIA graphics driver update can sometimes cause a blue screen of turn off the pc unexpectedly and after a few tries it goes through. This happpens sometimes even in a normal pc.
Make sure you install that update separately by itself to avoid problems.
Altrnatively you can download the update manually from hp.com directly. It's the same exact update.
Here it is.
