Hi, Going though the steps u posted for fixing the HP Support Assistant. I deleted the program the went to step 3. Clear out your temp folder. (Usually, c:\temp or c:\windows\temp). i found the temp folder in my program files. The only folder in it was MyLog.log. Is this what I should delete?
Thank u for the posting any your help.

Go to Computer in start box, local disc (c
SwSetup. Look for folder SP54620. Open it go to setup and run it. This will re install HPSA as it was, fully working. You may have to uninstall HPSA first,

I bought a new hp laptop, Pavilion dv6-6c04et (windows 7 64-bit) and tried to do updates via Hp Support Assistant. It worked fine until I updated my support assistant to the newest version, now I keep getting health check fails at steps 2,3 and 4. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version, didn't work, registered the dll's from cmd and installed it again, didn't work. As rash1d suggested I uninstalled the newest version and went back to the old one, it seemed to work fine and completed the health check. Then as the health check result it suggested me to update my support assistant to the latest version and now I am getting the fails again. I have Norton Internet Security trial installed, it worked fine with the version rash1d posted.
I had the same problem with my previous hp laptop (a different model), tried nearly every solution that appeared on the internet and had no success. Honestly I thought I wouldn't have the same problem with a just-out-of-the-box laptop, and I am disappointed.
If there is any other way to fix this problem, I'll be glad if you can help. If not, then just tell me to wait for another update so that I can stop trying to fix this. I am frustrated.
Thanks.

After the update, please check if you have the file "ACLMRunningLock.sem" exists in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Health Check\ActiveCheck. If so, delete it. This shoudl corect teh problem.
Another solution is to unistall HPSA using control panel. Then install the latrst version from:
www.hp.com/go/hpsupportassistant.
Hope this works.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately the file you mentioned wasn't there, and reinstalling the latest version doesn't work.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. My new computer came with HPSA 6.0.4.1 preinstalled. I couldn't create a HP Diagnostics disk as the unit wasn't imaged according to message I received. I created Recovery Disks OK. Before creating Back up disks I tried to update/d/l latest version 6.1.12.1 but got message I don't have minimum requirements. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no joy. Now lots of this HPSA's features won't work - such as Get Help, Settings etc. Can anyone advise what I can do to get HPSA fully functioning again, pls?
Many thanks.
