HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

I get an APP CRASH console pop-up every time I try to start the Total Advisor program...I had to disable it in msconfig because it crashed every time i booted up. It stopped working within a month of purchasing my desktop computer. I've had it about a year now and have not been able to get any help online..please help if you can. Unfortunately, HP Rep didn't return my emails.

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

The program is not essential and it can be uninstalled through "Uninstall a program" in Control Panel.

To setup your PC so that it will always be kept upp-to-date you can read...

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

I also recommend uninstalling it since it causes more bad than good.

Many times it says not responding.

There's no other way to Reinstall it except by running a Recovery.

But you can uninstall it at any time.

Yeah, everything's been running fine without it, so I will take your advice and just get rid of it. Thanks for the speedy replies!

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

Thank you, Thank you and Thank you.

I have wrestled with HP TCA and the recommended critical updates (especially to the BIOS) on 3 different occasions.

The 1st time I had a tech rep from HP helping me, over the phone.

Each time, I spent well over 6 hours of SERIOUS wrestling!!!!!!!   Errrrrrr.

I just finished my last 6 hour battle with this program.  It is 1:00 am EST. I started when I got home from work....

Nothing downloaded correctly, nothing installed correctly, I still have 9 critical problems, nothing I tweek helps, my mouse locks up every 10 minutes while working on this, I have rebooted 20 times.

I really don't need this.

Thanks for the info.  I feel better already. I am finished! Done!

Thank You, really.....

Thank you.

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

Why is the HP Total Care Advisor NOT working?  This is the pop-up window I get:

'HP Advisor has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution

is available.'

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

I'm also getting the pop up message, that hp advisor has stopped working/windows will close and notify you of a solution. What?????

Recently the hp recovery manager completed a factory restore to my computer, everything wiped out, all software,  long process to restore.  Could this be the problem??? Or should I just not worry about the hp advisor being enabled/disabled???

very frustrated.

Re: HP Total Care Advisor will not open.

I had the same problem and downloaded a newer HP Advisor and so far its working.   It took a long time to install but eventually it did.  I got the newest (at this time) here
