HP Update

This HP Update seems like a great idea to run automatically and check for updates.  The only problem is it runs every hour (or less) and gets annoying.  I have checked that the settings are on "once per week", and I have rebooted the machine (more than once) but still HP Update runs, and flashes up on the screen demanding that I click either next or cancel.

What can be done about it.

Re: HP Update

I can't even see the whole update box.  I only get maybe a quarter of the left side, so I can't even click on anything.  Since I can't get rid of it, I just move it down to the right of the time so it doesn't get in the way.  It's now there the next time I turn on computer.  But I sure would like to be able to check for updates!  Is there anywhere on hp support for this?

Re: HP Update

disable it on the start-up by using the MSCONFIG utillity...in xp click START then RUN and type msconfig and press enter.....a window will open...click unto the START-UP tab and uncheck the HP UPDATE UTILLITY....click ok and appy and restart....

in vista click start and the type MSCONFIG to the search box....and do the rest same as in xp...

hope this helps...say thanks by clicking the star......

Re: HP Update

Things I would do if I wanted to continue receiving updates automatically...

  • Change DPI settings to default (control panel, display settings, font (dpi) - in Vista)
  • Make sure display res is 1024x768 or higher
  • Update to the latest version of HP Update

Vista

XP
