Health Analysis-the update downloads never finishes [ Edited ]

New computer running windows 7.

Each time it get's "stuck" on the 2nd step. It says it's downloading updates but it never finishes. I have a high speed connection and there is no way that the files are that large. My internet connection is working fine.

I tried stopping firewall and antivirus but it didn't solve it.

Each time this happens I have to stop the process manually or it will keep saying it is downloading the updates forever.

Please help.

I am having the same problem.  Hopefully, HP will see these messages and deal with it.

mine used to work fine till the last microsoft update. i'm using windows 7 home premium, model e9240f and there's a new update on the hp support & drivers page for this model. downloaded that & health analysis stalls on gathering info now so i just click stop & message says everything's fine. i'm not having probs with my pc but i'd like this function to work. i wonder if changing the "settings" has something to do with it not working now. i changed the download protocol from auto to manual because i don't want to download generic windows updates for my video or audio card etc. have you tried the update page for your model # yet? might help you in your instance

I have the latest version of the Health Analysis software/HP support Assistant; it does exactly the same thing.  My laptop is roughly 6 months old and came with Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate, the "Downloading Updates" never worked under Vista and after upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate it still hangs at "Downloading Updates".

I have tried uninstalling the application(s) and reinstalling them (downloading them directly from HP) with no resolution.  The only thing I have not done (and probably should) is open a trouble ticket with HP Tech Support.  I've been spinning my wheels with this one off and on for some time.

Best of luck to everyone who has this issue, I'm pretty sure it's a bug, and I'm pretty sure it is affecting a great deal more than just us.

I had this problem until I went to health analysis settings took it off the never check for updates setting. It can be on either one of the other settings. This may not help you but it worked for me.

I am having the same problem.  When I tried to get through to "Customer Care" the response I got was that that was a problem that was "unique to me"
