I have not made the recovery disks

HP Pavilion Slimline s5304y Desktop PC. It keeps saying I have made recovery disks that I haven't. I have the PC for a year. I bought it new. Didn't know anything about recovery disks and learned about recovery disks this weekend. So while trying to create the disks it keeps telling me that I already made them.

Re: I have not made the recovery disks

Contact HP, tell them of the fallure. If you are still within the 1yr warranty HP probably will provide them free.If not, they are usually less than $20.

Re: I have not made the recovery disks

I also have a problem with making recovery disks for a HP Pavilion Slimline s5304y Desktop PC. I have had this desk top for only three weeks, but it says that it is out of warranty. But I have tried six times to create a set of recovery disks. Every time it creates the first disk and then scans it and stops at 17% and reports an error. Then tells me to try again with a new disk. I've tried disks by three different makers including HP. Any ideas?

Re: I have not made the recovery disks

dnb228,

Are you using DVD+R media? That is what HP recommends.

I believe in Pavlov's Law. You toss me points, and I perform better.

To say THANK YOU, press the white star on the left, to render a KUDO.
Please click Accept as Solution, just to the right of my reply if your problem is solved.

PS--You can render both Solution and KUDO

Re: I have not made the recovery disks

I have used both dvd+r and dvd-r. I receive the same error on both types of media.

[ Edited ]

I usually have best results with Sony DVD+R.

Turn off UAC first and also disable /suspend your Anti-Virus program.
