IE7 won't display web pages after February MS Automatic Updates

The only way that I can get IE7 to display web pages is to uninstall the latest security patch for it.  It is rated "Critical" so this makes me uncomfortable.  Is there something else that I need to check/fix so that this will work?  Thanks in advance.

Re: IE7 won't display web pages after February MS Automatic Updates

The suspect update is KB961260.  It was first installed on 2-11-09.  It had the same effect on a Media Center 2003, and an older XP Pro.  Since there aren't a whole lot of others with the same problem, I wonder if it may be something with firewall settings in my LinkSys router?

I think it's your virus protection causing the issue. Which do you use?

Issues with that update is discussed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942818

Then follow this. http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate...

Re: IE7 won't display web pages after February MS Automatic Updates

I have had numerous problems with IE7. We install the lates version of "Internet Explorer 8 RC1" to solve these problems. It is a BETA. Beta are unofficial releases of software used to remove bugs and other problem in them before there official release to the public. This should be kept in mind before down loading this software. "Critical" ...... meaning it is very important and should not be missed.

IE8 is available from here:

Re: IE7 won't display web pages after February MS Automatic Updates

Critical if your not having issues. This can be removed to find a problem and can be installed manually if need be.

I.E.8 as you state in a release candidiate. Which can cause issues. I feel trying to fix the problem not only solves it but gives the person more insight on how to handle another problem such as this that may occur in the future.

I use AntiVir by AVG and Zone Alarm software firewall.  Both free versions.
