Lights on MediaSmart EX470 Home Server (can't connect)

The Hard Drives light is Blue, Network light is Blue, Health Indicator is flashing Blue and Off, and none of the HDD lights are lit (I have four HDDs installed).  Whein installing the home connector software it is unable to find the server.  What does this state mean?

 

For context, it's worked fine for months now until I wasn't able to access any shares on it one day.  This continued so I ran the Server Recovery yesterday which said it found and successfully recovered the server, but when it went to installing the connector software, it is now unable to find the home server.  The system has tons of personal photos, etc that are nowhere else so I really must save the data.

I have this exact same issue and have not been able to find a solution (or a way to contact HP Support for this product). Were you ever able to resolve the issue?

 

I even tried removing all drives and installing a new drive and trying to perform a factory reset. Unfortunately, the reset process never seems to find my server (I followed HP's directions exactly) and fails. I feel like I now have a several hundred dollar paperweight...

:smileymad: Where is HP's answer to this problem. I have the same issue. I am about  to use my EX470 as a boat anchor. Maybe the fish can figure out the problem.

having this same exact issue also. one time i was able to turn it off and on again it worked. now it's back in the same state. haven't found a logical explanation anywhere yet.

I've long since abandond the EX470 and instead built a 4U server case with 20 drive bays and am using Hyper-V on Windows Server Core 2008 R2 to run Windows Home Server 2003.  Much more reliable and expandable. The inspiration came from this blog feed: http://www.unproductivitydefined.com/2010/02/virtualizing-windows-home-server-on.html
