Lost XP installation disc but have product key

I uninstalled Windows XP Home Edition on my Compaq Presario SR1320NX and put Linux on there. Now I regret it and plan to install XP again. The problem is, I've lost my installation disc. Can I still get another one with my XP license key? And what other info will I have to provide (so I can see if I still have it/gather it.) If my computer needs to be under warranty, how do I know whether it is or not?

Re: Lost XP installation disc but have product key

Here are the specs for your Compaq Presario SR1320NX Desktop Computer. It was introduced in December of 2004 and is around 7.5 years old. HP warrants most of their consumer products for a period of one year. Therefore, your computer is no longer under warranty.

The key on the XP COA isn't really meant for activation, as HP shipped the computer already activated with a diiferent HP OEM key on the computer. The computer didn't come with any installation discs of any sort. This computer required (as most modern computers do) you to make recovery discs to re-install the HP factory image. Since HP no longer maintains these discs, please order them from ComputerSurgeons.com for $27.

Re: Lost XP installation disc but have product key

$27... I guess I'll look around the house for the recovery discs further... If I don't find them I'll probably get that. Thanks!
