a slave in my new Slimline Pavilian s5370t. There is a jumper setting on the old drive but no jumper connector. What do I need to do to install the old in the new? Keeping in mind the old system is Vista 32 and the new is Windows7 64.
Kind regards,
Steve

I'm not sure what you mean by jumper connector. If you mean the SATA connector, there are 4 SATA ports on your motherboard to plug in another hdd using the cable from old machine. The document HERE shows motherboard layout with location of SATA ports.
If I were doing this, I would simply install the old hdd in a USB Enclosure and plug it into usb port of new machine. It can be accessed just like an internal hdd, files copied/used and can even be formatted using disk management in Windows.

Thanks CherylG! The diagram on the old HD shows where a jumper should be on the pins if it's being used as a slave. I'm sensing that the jumper may not be necessary in this case? The reason I'm asking is because I have no jumper to connect these two pins together (if that's what has to happen) and I don't know where to get a jumper.
Kind regards,
Steve

SATA hdds usually only utilize the jumper to restrict speed from 3 down to 1.5 if your motherboard doesn't support it and auto-configure speed. You should be fine without it.

Ok, it's making sense now. I'll finish it over the weekend. Thank you so much.
