My wifes computer h8-1090t has a bios update listed for her computer on the HP site.

HP Pavillion h8-1090t Windows Professional 64 bit.  HP lists an udate for her bios.  Are there any precautions I should take before doubleclicking the downloaded update that I have saved to the desktop?  I have never messed with the bios before.

I would suggest that you read this first: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00007682&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en

Normally there are no problems when doing a BIOS update.  However, just be forwarned that bad things CAN happen.  It has been my philosophy that if the update is to fix a problem that you are having then do the update.  If it will not be of any benefit, then leave it alone.  Many people will tell you to go ahead, so make up your own conclusion.  When a BIOS flash goes bad, there may not be a solution other than to get a new motherboard.
