Need urgent help with compaq recovery partition

[ Edited ]
Hello all,

I need help with compaq recovery partition.

My freind was having problems booting into windows xp, so I installed a fresh xp on another partition. I saw:

Partition1 200gb  200gb free
unalocated disk space  8mb
pariton 2 8gb   .5gb free

so I assumed the previous xp was installed on partition 2 and her files were on there as well since partition 1 was clean. I formated the partition 1 and installed xp on there, assuming I could retrive her files on partition 2 when it booted in. So xp installed and I click on the second partition in my computer, and I get a message saying that it's a compaq recovery partition. I need to retrive her files, they must be on the recovery partition because it's 8gb and it's almost full. And nothing was on the first partition. How to I retrieve the files?

Thanks,

Josh
