GS, what is the model of your computer?  It is good to include this information with any request for help.  It is also good to let us know if you have made any changes to the OEM product.

Re: New Computer Probs

Type Device Manager in the Search Programs and files box and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.  When the Device Manager window opens, scroll down to your DVD drive and right-click on it and select Uninstall.  Restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall it properly.

Re: New Computer Probs

Hi,

I am having the same prob as you but I 've had mine about 1yr and a 1/2.  Hp a6530f.  All of my portable devices show code 19 ..

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Then in device status shows failure using the VxD loader..  Is norton installed on your computer?  I uninstalled and reinstalled norton 360 on mine a couple of days ago. Ran diagnostics from it and it showed the device errors checked drivers and up to date.  I wounder if it can be an update for windows or what?  If you just bought it, and have a warranty I'd check with hp also.

Re: New Computer Probs

Just wanted to update you on mine.  I might have found a solution on mine.  I went to http://support.microsoft.com and did the fix it solution.  I went to microsoft answers and vista forums and I think it was 101 ways to fix problems.  Funny thing is one of the posts was just like mine with norton 360. I used the fix it and took care of mine.  If your using windows  it might be different.  Try emailng microsoft or hp and see what they think.
