New HP Pavilion - Norton trail software won't uninstall - even in safe mode

Trying to install Norton 360 since I already have a license for that.  But it tries to uninstall Norton Internet Security first, but fails.  I tried to uninstall it myself through the control panel, through the Norton uninstall icon, and the same routine within safe mode. None of these work.

 

Any suggestions?

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool provided by Symantec.  This will forcefully remove all products associated with Norton so you can install another security software.
