Greetings,
If you are experiencing an issue where Internet Explorer has stopped working, and are using Internet Explorer 8 and Norton Antivirus, a recent update to the Norton Virus Definitions and the Intrusion Prevention add-on has been resolved by Symantec. They released an new update shortly after the original one went out please re-run Live Update from your Norton application and this should resolve the issue. For more information please visit the Norton Support forums.
you can search for more information at Norton here: http://community.norton.com/
Thanks!

Reguarding this post, I'm sure that may have worked for you. My problem is, I'm not using Norton. I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 11. I checked to see if there was any other Anti-Virus runing and found a McAfee Security program running. I have uninstalled the McAfee program and am checking for updates from my computer manufacture. I will return later to see if that helped the situation.

Thanks for the fix for this problem. I was working one evening and IE 8 crashed and Windows can back and said looking for a solution, this has happened before and Windows DID fix it, temp it seems. Anyway IE 8 crashed and I worked for a hour or so before I did a reload on the IE 8 from the Control Panel. This worked but I was concerned the same problem would occur again on down the line. Hopefully this patch will fix this problem. Time and work will tell...Thanks again!!! ![]()

I personally dislike it, on previous use of Norton, experienced
many hang ups, certainly not worth the high price charged by
Norton. Microsoft Security Essentials has proved a very reliable
Anti virus with no hang ups and it is free.

Having two antivirus programs installed at once is seldom a good idea - they tend to interfere with each other.
Note - this does not apply to antispyware programs; they normally do not interfere with each other.
The normal uninstall does not fully remove McAfee antivirus products. See here on how to remove the rest:

The normal uninstall does not fully remove Norton antivirus products either. See here on how to remove the rest:

Hello DADM53, It is not recommended to run more than one anti-virus program on a system at the same time.
It seems that some of these anti-virus programs will see the other installed anti-virus progam as a virus itself.
Please click the White Kudos star on the left, to say thanks.
Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem.
