Office 2003 Standard Ed. Cannot Be Removed After Upgrade to Office 2007 Home & Student

After running the upgrade installation from an original cd for Office Home & Student 2007, I cannot remove the left-over Office 2003 Standard Edition files.

The error it gives:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error message in an Office program:

Re: Office 2003 Standard Ed. Cannot Be Removed After Upgrade to Office 2007 Home & Student

Here's what I would do.

Harder way) Uninstall Office 2007 and is possible remove Office 2003 as well from you program list reboot and install a clean Office 2007 only fresh.

Before reinstalling Office 2007 from the disc, go to the Computer/C drive/Program Files/ and deleted the Microsoft Office folder.

If you can't do it in normal mode reboot and try in Safe Mode.

Easier way) Try a free uninstaller such as the folowing the remove Office 2003 from the list:

a) Revo Uninstaller (http://www.freeuninstaller.net/)

b) Microsoft Cleanup Utility(http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe)

Be careful not to delete other programs.
