Runs fine until you shut it down. Then turns on and beeps, tries to access cd/dvd, HDD light is lit, but won't boot (vista). Has separate HD recovery drive. After beeping for awhile it turns on the wireless keyboard and mouse, but they don't work (computer/monitor still asleep) as not booted up yet. then all stops and computer sits there with power light (and HDD lt) on, but still not booted. Continues in same pattern for about 30' and then out of the blue it boots correctly. This computer has always had problems shutting off, would lock up the same way, but previously it would always shut down when you held the power button and then restart correctly. Using it turned on always, but whenever it needs areboot the same problem comes back. Runs fine otherwise. Appreciate any assistance, it is about 3 years old with a 2 year warranty (all happened after it expired).
Add'l info: beeps 2 short, 1 long on turn on ; repeats 5 times
More info: disconnected everything else and no change, fan runs, currently taking it apart to check for loose wires.

That seems to say problems with the video graphic adapter or video drivers are bad, next time you get it running , check the hp web site for updates, firmware, and or
mother board bios updates, etc.
click on the link for vista 32bit
