Print Spooler error on Vista 64-bit

I'm using a new computer with Windows Vista 64-bit. My printer is an HPLaserJet 1020 (great little printer). I downloaded and installed the new plug & play driver from the HP site and everything worked great for about a week. Now I am unable to print because the print spooler keeps shutting down. I can re-start the spooler from the Services menu, but it almost immediately shuts down again. Not only can I not print, I can't delete printers, uninstall programs, can't even publish pdfs. I've seen a lot of complaints about this problem on the Microsoft Vista forums, but no solutions. HP is taking its share of the blame, which I think is weird. Any thoughts? I'm at a loss.

I have the same problem.

I have Windows 7 64bit (RTM tacked by MSDN-AA)  and my HP Laser 1018 don't' work for the same problem with print spooler.

Re: Print Spooler error on Vista 64-bit

Have you tried changing the Parport start up value in:-HKEY_LM......SYSTEM....CONTROLSET 001....SERVICES....PARPORT.

Have a look and see if it is set to 4.

Re: Print Spooler error on Vista 64-bit

OK, kids, speak English and not computer lingo, or this dum cluck will remain in printer hell.

My pinter went down (HP 1022 LaserJet) a week ago, suddenly.  The print spooler issue is rampant and I can't find a solution I can make work ANYWHERE...not in forums, not at HP, and certainly not from Microsoft.  Anyone have a solution to this ongoing problem?  I'm running Vista on a 64 bit, by the way.

If you are not a kid and are using a computer then you will understand my reply above,it works 100% .Type "regedit" in the search box and then run as admin, then navigate  your way to where i have said.

If you can`t understand ,then an abacus may be your best option.
