Hi.
I have a Pavilion Dv6 - 1138 and now when I turn on displayed a messaged saying
Boot device not found
Please Install an Operating System on your hard Disk
Error Codes
Hard Disk - (3F0)
F2 System Diagnotics
For More information, please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup
in the System Diagnostics I notices that everyone is Ok ( System Information , Start Up Test , Run In Test) except for the Hard Disk test that appears a message saying "Hard Disk does not exist"
So, My HD is broken?
Thanks for everyone!

Laptop? This is the desktop forum. If the bios can't find your hard drive then that is of course a bad sign. Try this: unplug your laptop, remove the battery and hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then reassemble and give it a go. You might also try removing and then replacing the hard drive. If that doesn't work then it would seem that a hard drive replacement is needed.
I hope you have a set of HP recovery disks.

You need a 2.5" disk drive. Don't buy one that is too big as some of these laptops have bios restrictions and limitations on hard drive data sizes.
Try a hard reset. Unplug the laptop, remove the battery and hold down the power button for about a minute. Replace the battery and plug your laptop back in and give it a go.

You should be able to use any 2.5" SATA hdd for laptops. Just be sure to remove the little plastic adapter that is on the pins of the bad hdd, you will need it on the new one.
HP uses hdds from different manufacturers, they do not make them. My current HP laptop has a Toshiba hdd. Any 500gb should be a safe choice since I think your laptop shipped with a 500gb hdd.
