Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

hi.

 

I have an hp pavillion a1410y PC.

 

it was unplugged for a LONG time.

 

now i get this message when it starts:

 

reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device.

 

what does this mean and what can i do to fix it?

Immediately after powering on the machine start tapping the F10 key to enter BIOS. Once in reset to Default settings, F5 key I believe. The tap F10 again to Save & Exit.

 

If still no boot, remove the side panel and check the cables to the back of hard drive-unplug and replug firmly to be sure of good connection.
