This pertains to a Desktop Pavilion, Windows 7 Home Premium
Due to internet connection issues, I had to do a complete recovery on my system. I backed up my files on an external hard drive.
How do I restore application files from files backed up on an external hard drive?

Have you actually looked at what you created before the Recovery processed was started?
Application files are not recoverable.
