Sceen blank after wakeup from sleep mode [ Edited ]

When sleep mode, monitor has been turned off in the standby mode. After wakeup either by moving the mouse or punch a key on the keyboard, PC wakes up and monitor turned to On, but the monitor keeps blank, nothing display on the monitor. The PC seemed wakes up normally, as the power indicator turned back On and harddisk indicator flashes. I tried by tapping all possible keys on keyboard, no help. Can anyone give me some idea ?

Forgot to give details of my system, My PC is HP Pavilion Slimline S3120n Desktop PC, Using Windows Vista 32 bite OS, Dell 19" lcd Monitor. All device seemed works normal, except the blank screen after wakeup from sleep mode. I need to reboot everytime at this point. Please give me some idea for the solutions. Thank you.

i dont have an answer but i have the same problem & can`t find a answer... its a real hassel having to reboot.. anybody have an answer please post a responce. i have a hp pavivilion media center tv pc.

1) Make sure you have Vista Service Pack 1 installed if it's vista or XP Service Pack 2 or 3 at least if it's an XP OS.

2) Try updating your video card driver and download the original monitor driver from hp.com

3) Reboot the pc and see if it works. If it doesn't then turn off sleep mode or hibernation from power options in Control Panel.

Thank you very much for your suggestion, I have already the Windows Vista sp1 installed, and have tried to update both the display and monitor driver but feedback stated that I already have the latest drivers for my pc. I in fact have tried to update the system BIOS and run the system file checker. All does'nt work. I think I have to go through the entire system recovery by the recovery disks. As it involve too much reinstallation works after that, I have not do this yet. What I can do is to switch off the sleep mode via the save power manual at the moment. What is your opinion?

charles_CWK i think you wanted to respond to c0rnel`s message... you email me instead & i posted ahead of c0rnel with the same sleep problem you have.. only solution i have done is turn off the sleep mode from control panel... maybe somebody else will read our problem with monitor not waking up from sleep mode & screen remains blank.. more solutions welcome.

The wakeup with black screen problem which appeared when I upgraded the ram from 1GB to 2GB finally went away for me after I uninstalled the latest NVidia GeForce 6150 LE display driver ver: 7.15.11.7521 and installed an older driver ver: 7.15.11.6222.  Both drivers were listed for my HP Pavilion Slimline s7700n.  The OS is Vista 32 bits.

Hello Glenn_XYZ, Thank you very much for your information, IT WORKS FOR ME TOO, I disabled this feature for almost a year, and I have it works again after I roll back the display driver to its former ver. ( from ver: 7.15.11.7521 to ver: 7.15.11.65 ). my OS is also Vista 32bit.

I underatand there were some friends in this forum also having the same problem, please try the method in the above message.

I recently facing another problem: IE8 stop working intermittantly and needed to close, it happened especially often when reading emails. it sometimes happened again in every few minutes, even I close all browse windows, and re-open again. But mostly it closed only my current working window, and recovered with my previous windows.

I have no clue about this, and try by using FireFox instead of IE8 at the moment. Any one can help please? Thanks!

I have the same problem.  My computer will not wake up when sleeping.  If I hit a key, the blue light on the USB/Wireless transmitter does not come on.  However, if I power off and on again, the PC comes up and the USB/Wireless keyboard begins communicating again - blue  light on/off.  Finally,  the computer wakes up properly with all the previously running programs loaded and running.  It seems to me that it's all about the USB/Wireless mouse.  I used to have this problem off and on for some time.  Then, suddenly, it started working properly again.  I recently loaded some windows updates.  Things went to hell sometime after that.  However, I lost power a few hours after the updates so perhaps it was that. 

I have always disliked and had trouble with the USB/Wireless mouse/keyboard on my HP Pavilion Model #: m8147c.   I connected a Microsoft USB Mouse to the PC but still use the HP USB/Wireless keyboard.

I made no changes to my vidio drivers when my problems started or when they went away. 

Very annoying problem.

If during disk-cleanup some crucial file (related to hibernation) gets deleted then computer could give blank screen after hibernation/sleep mode. To correct that, go to

* Programs --> Accessories-->Command_Prompt-->Right click and select Admin mode.

* On the admin command prompt type  "powrcfg -h on" without quotes.

This should solve the problem of blank black screen.
