So where do I go from here - Vista to 7

I am in the process of making the move from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7.  As an old time MS Beta tester I couldn't resist the siren call of 7 with all its bells and whistles.  My problem is that with my new HP desktop, some of my favorite software titles are tied up on my recovery disk.   Is there any wat that I can haul these off the recovery disk or do I have to go out and buy new software?
