Startup Repair after repair to factory setting Stuck

Update..

Just got off phone with 1-800-HP-INVENT.

The person I spoke with said he was sorry there was nothing he could do as it had already been escalated 

 to someone higher up. He had No time frame and told me to just wait for the call.There was nothing he could do.

So here I am... same place  I have been for weeks..

Just wanted to update you on that.

I know that you say here the BIOHD-1 error code is "hard drive failure"

However I am trying a new drive  after the original OEM Seagate has apparently failed.

I am new to the forums and have been working on this HP for about 2 weeks.

The new drive has been successfully restored and runs the O.S., I even have managed to do a few Windows Updates - HOWEVER, the machine is running not slow but more like 80286 slow.

Why? I have tried everything, from removing the extra peripherals from the motherboard and using only the HD to run the system. I have tried several BIOS setting changes.

I do wonder if it is possible that the restore DVD's that I used could have maybe not installed 100% effeciently!?

I have exchanged the RAM out and tested 2GB 4GB combos.

I have cleaned the CPU FAN/HEATSINK and replaced the silver compound just in case I had heat issues.  I cleaned the entire case and hardware has been removed and re-seated.

I have tried the old drive again only for it to boot up into the restore screen and give me error 1002.

I have done the BIOS update listed under the machine.

Has the SATA Controller failed on this MOBO? Is it possible that the hard drives are actually fine and the motherboard is causing the issue.

I have ordered yet another NEW hard drive that I will try - can I use a larger drive?

Did you connect the printer to the computer with the USB cord before or during the installation of the software. If you plugged the USB cord in before the installation software indicated you to then your OS automatically started to install PnP (plug and play) drivers for the printer from Windows which can cause problems when installing our software (some files may be seen as "duplicates" and not installed). 

For this reason it is important to uninstall everything and leave the USB unattached until the software directs you to plug it in. 

Also, unless that "default" registry key referenced either your 4620 or HP then I would leave it be. I'll look into what that key references, but for now do not delete it.
