Did you make the Recovery DVD set? Try that approach, next.

I was using the recovery cds which I made when I got the computer. It finished running formating when I did the system recovery but it is not installing. I left the machine running the whole night, and it is still at 0% completion. How can I get it to install the Windows vista 64?

I would verify the hard drive is good by going the drive manufacturerer's site and getting the diagnositic software they use. For WD it is called Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD): http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupi
Make the CD and boot to it to run the tests. Or run them from this: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Picking the appropriate manfacturerer.

I took the machine to Geek Squad at Best Buy Elmhurst. They ran HP diagnostic which showed a hard disk failure. I left the machine there to be fixed. I hope the Geek Squad fix my problem.
Thanks.
