Product: HP Pavilion Slimline s5730y Desktop
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows updated, added service pack 1. I let it download overnight and went to bed. When I woke up none of my usb ports work. Computer recognizes that something is being plugged in, a message says it's trying to download the appropriate drivers, and then it says "drivers failed to install" followed closely with a prompt to restart my computer to have the changes take effect. The USB port gives power to devices and windows seems to load fine, but no mouse or keyboard will function in any port. I have recovery disks, so I tried to load one into the drive, which results in a black screen and hangs. The problem with the recovery disks might be because windows doesn't like my 60" HDTV, and no I don't have an extra monitor at the moment. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the drivers to the USB ports, problem is how do I fix this if the computer wont recognize any commands from my mouse or keyboard? I do have a MacBook Pro on hand and a 3GB thumb drive, if those can help.
