Unhappy to say that i'm going back to vista :(

I'm so fusrated at this point with this new desktop I picked up a month ago, I had windows vista on it when I got it. From time to time it would lock up and freeze, so i was very happy when i got to be part of the windows 7 launch party and got my windows 7 on the 13th. Since then it's been nothing but headaches. I can't use more then one usb device now. If I sync my Ipod touch and have my usb drive even turn on it will time out and max out all my cpu's and only way to fix it at this point is to restart, now if i transfer data from one usb drive to another drive same thing, if i have a drive turned on and use my webcam cam some thing, it's like the USB ports are underpowered. I've been talking with hp for the last couple days who keep telling me if windows can see the device then it's not a system problem. But they all work on my xp pc and my macbook just fine. so they asked me to do a system recovercy. now i have to wait for the dvd's to come in the mail to be able to do this. I plan on returning this thing if vista doesn't fix this problem.

I have a HP e9140f and was wondering if anyone else is having any issues close to this?

Any help would be great.

Re: Unhappy to say that i'm going back to vista :(

MT, this is the problem with a new OS.  It doesn't always play nice.  I have never purchased an OS before the first major update; SP, and there will be one.  The cause is MS rushing to get a new product on the market.  I will say this in their defense, however, the hardware changes so fast these days that it is a nightmare to keep up.

The fact is, I am still using XP Pro.  It has been as stable as any OS I have used since 1984.  Vista proved to be the biggest pain since ME, maybe bigger.  My primary OS is Ubuntu 9.04, Linux.  I use XP Pro to game only.

Good luck with getting Vista to work.

It might be a lot to ask but, can you uninstall the iTunes application completely for a week and see how your system behaves?

What other 3rd party software do you have installed that did not come as part of the system?

Re: Unhappy to say that i'm going back to vista :(

The hp Rep though tech chat asked me that so yesterday i flushed it and only installed win 7 and all the updates, with the same out come, the system works fine as long as i don't need to use anything usb...besides the mouse and keyboard. At this point the rep told me nothing more can be done untill the system is back to orignal factory settings, so i'm just waiting on the dvd's to come in the mail for the vista recoverey.

Re: Unhappy to say that i'm going back to vista :( **USB Problems**

A few weeks ago I completed a fresh restore of my New E9140F back to Windows Vista, Everything started working again. Now I’ve installed
windows 7 on my second partition and when I’m in windows 7 I have the same issues with the USB ports Again. But only in Windows 7, if I restart and go in
to vista the problem goes away. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their workstation and windows 7 at all. It’s very frustrating when
you want to be on windows 7 but when I need to sync my iphone or move data to my usb drive I have to restart and log in to vista.

Having the same problem here.  Wouldn't be so bad except the wireless network is a USB device.  What a POS this HP equipment is.

vista ROCKS...luv it...no bsods no signif freezes...and it always extricates itself from tricky situations...never needs to be restarted...
