Upgrading to Window 7 From Vista

After recieving the upgrade cd from the mail. I proceed in installing it on to my desktop.

Installing all possible updates to my pc before hand. Nothing was broken or changed before the upgrade fresh.

The upgrade was complete. Nothing seemed wrong. Everything worked properly except my firewall.

PC Tools Firewall plus is my firewall.

It would not start.

It is a signed product. I went ahead and check with the manufacture and they quickly replied with a solution.

I went ahead with their steps. I ran into a problem. When going to local area connections, there were none.

After a few google searches I figure maybe the driver arn't installed.

I checked device manager and nothing shows up in device manager.

Drivers are clearly installed on my machine considering I'm able to use sound and it automatically detected I had a graphics card driver installed and I'm able to connect to the internet through my network adapter driver.

So the question is, why are none of my dirvers showing up in my device manager and how can i fix this problem?

Re: Upgrading to Window 7 From Vista

Hi,,

You can try to check this steps and see if it will work

go to run then type in "services.msc",,then the Services Window will come up,,look for "Plug and Play",,check it if the service is Started or Stopped,,if it is Stopped, try to Start it then restart the computer,,if it is Started,,try to Stopped it then Start it again,,then restart the pc as well!!

Hope it works!!:smileywink:

Re: Upgrading to Window 7 From Vista

When you say nothing is showing in Device Manager_do you mean that your ethernet adapter isn't showing up under Network Adapters? If so that is very odd since you can connect to internet.

I would check Windows Firewall to be sure it isn't turned on, that could prevent PC Tools firewall from starting.

You really should have uninstalled PC Tools before upgrading.I am surprised that the HP Upgrade disk didn't suggest it. I would try uninstalling it, restart your PC, then reinstall.
