Re: Video Instructions for Finding Software and Drivers for HP Desktop PC's

That is an IPV6 internet Driver in your Networking Wizard..I think.

Recently, I see my ISP is IPV6, and this old Presario had IPV4.  Now, I got

all these IPV6 things, and I see that I did not do the installing of them.

You can go to open your internet connection, and properties, and see TCP, and Properties for it.

You can check with your ISP, and just set up the Networking connect, the way they tell you...

Re: Video Instructions for Finding Software and Drivers for HP Desktop PC's

I tried some of the video instructions & found I probably didn't need updates on some things. I tried to use HP Help & Support (on computer) & it comes up but freezes & won't react when clicking on anything & won't even close, have to use Windows Task Manager to get rid of it. Is that because my computer is too old & is not under warranty any more? Going to the HP online was helpful, though. I'm supposed to be automatically getting Windows & HP updates. I went to Windows online & got some software updates that were not automatic & then my Firefox browser wouldn't open & had to do a system restore to the day before to get rid of them. I guess one or more of them were not compatible with Firefox but could not find out specifically. I like a lot of things about Firefox but there seems to be so many Windows things that it is not compatible with!

Re: Video Instructions for Finding Software and Drivers for HP Desktop PC's

When I was told to do a clean install and start the updating, not to install the Realtech and Nvidia drivers that windows update sends as an optional download. Also told not to just hit the update drivers by hp techs as well or get 3rd party drivers either. None show up when I use the hp updater. I am running windows 7 on a pavillion desktop and they said the drivers are made just for THIS model pc that are pre installed and never use outside drivers, programs such as antivirus etc.. I know there are newer drivers and I wanted to know about updating the bloatware as well such as cyberlinkDVD deluxe suite etc..? sounds as though they try to force things on you so you dont improve your pc so they can sell new ones which I was offered. never again will an hp be in my home when this thing dies.

Re: Video Instructions for Finding Software and Drivers for HP Desktop PC's

sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, I have alway's purchased HP computers and although I have had problems with my computers I have had very few bad experiences with there techs, there are alway's a few bad apples so I hope you do not write off HP because of this.
I alway's use windows updates and I get very few updates offered in HP update, I have alway's used Norton internet Security and other software programs without any problems.
I also have a pavillion Elite , HPE-150F desktop, plus a HP G 62laptop,and a photosmart plus all in one printer, B209a, granted I have had less problems with the laptop than the desktop, but I would keep trying different techs to help you until you get the solution solved, I have had to do this a few times.

Hello Imaginary_Self0, I would also agree with not downloading and installing the Windows Update Hardware drivers.

I suggest going to the manufacturer's web site and download and install their latest drivers.

Just check the Device Manager and determine the video device and the audio device and go to the hardware provider's site and locate and download their latest drivers.

It has been reported, and I have experienced issues with some Windows hardware drivers.

Just some thoughts.
