Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

I am VERY upset that HP Image Zone is gone. Bet people would PAY for the Windows 7 version!!! It is so much better than anything else I have seen. I cannot stand Photo Essentials on my new HP Pavilion HPE. I ONLY buy Hewlett Packard PCs, printers, scanners... I worked in the computer industry for 25 years and all of the folks in my IT department knew the BEST hardware is HP; always has been... I want MY ImageZone Plus BACKKKKKKKK!

Hp please reconsider. Those other apps are not even close to good enough. I know Image Zone and thats what we want!!!

Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

The world of technology is nothing but change, as you must realize working in the industry!  You will not get your Image Zone back and it's best to move.  I am now using PaintShop Pro X4. I used this photo editor at my workplace for years and decided to give it a shot at home with my new HP PC with Windows 7 last November. Lots of stuff I don't use, but it works. I have X3 at work. X4 version better.  I miss the simplicity of Image Zone but had to get over losing it and mush on if I wanted to continue to working on my family tree - photo scanning and enhancing.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

Yeah, I know...but how can you be certain?

I hope HP gets enough flak to reverse their decision. Seems MAC OS has an updated version from the comments I saw. So, it is a remote possibility.

(Picasa is free and it is OK....but.)

I just got a newer PC and had been using Image Zone Plus for years. I did not know it was 'discontinued' before I got a new PC. It just kinda irks me - why is it that even if something works, 'experts' have to go and screw them up?

I suspect that some of the features were becoming a legal issue with competitors, like offering OCR with HP IZ. So, they came up with something else... but did they really have to completely change the interface? I do not want to stumble through the crappy software they offer.

Very disappointed in HP!

Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

Candysox - But, how long can you wait?  Same thing happened to me when I bought a new HP computer and printer last November. The software that came with it - can't remember the name, was too simplistic. Adapted and now use the PSP4, so even if they bring the Image Zone back, I wouldn't use it. There are other photo editors out there too. Do yourself a favor and buy or download a real photo editor. Do some side by side comparisons. Some offer free trials.

You can't.

That's the whole purpose of this thread.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

I just wish upper management at HP could see how upset customers are about this issue.  Goes to show HP does NOT support it's products.  Someone should have their feet to the fire for this one.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Image Zone software

I got HP Image Zone to work with Windows 7.

1.  Log in as administrator

2.  Load installation CD.  Find setup.exe, right click, select troubleshoot compatibility.  Accept XP mode.

3.  Start program.

4.  It takes awhile to install the program.  Be patient.

5.  Ignore any messages that the program may not have installed correctly.

6.  Once program has loaded, click next and save settings.  Ingore any error messages.

Once the program is loaded, you can copy the shortcut(s) from the adminstrator's desktop to other users or just create a new short cut.

Hope that works for everyone.

Have you had any problems using image zone or problems elsewhere using any other programs since installing?
