The backup completes successfully but with skipped files. Using windows explorer I can't find the files on my C drive. Why is it looking for these files as part of the backup. How can i tweak the backup so it will process without looking for these files (see below)?
Backup files 2011-04-18 114254-error skipped files:
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Administrator.Clyde-PC\Documents. Error

I don't think there is an exclusion list you can add those to, I would just ignore those specific errors as long as yu know they are not important files.
Is this computer a home computer or is it on a domain?

Mumbodog,
Thanks for your reply. I was afraid that may be the answer. I just want my backup to complete and close cleanly without errors, but perhaps not possible. I may send this to MS 7 to see what they say since I bought the OS separately from my HP PC.

I found this in my file system for the error code;(0x80070002)

Click Start >
Run >
Type "regedit" (with out " ")
> go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services and look for BITS and Wuauserv
When you find BITS and Wuauserv click on it and check the key ImagePath to make sure it says "%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs" (with out " ")
If it's something different right click the key and click "Modify" copy and paste
%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
If you get an Error saying "Cannot edit ImagePath: Error writing value's new contents."
Right click the folder BITS or Wuaserv (You will most likely have to do both) and select "Permissions..."
Select full control
Go back to the ImagePath key and click Modify again and paste in
"%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs" (without the " ")
Check these as well
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services (BITS and Wuauserv)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services (BITS and Wuauserv)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic

Gator6x4,
Thanks for your finding and reply. I'll give this a try. I've not contacted MS 7 yet. Hopefully this is my solution!

Gator6x4,
I followed your suggestion and found: Controlset 001, controlset002, Currentcontrolset/services all have the statement correct as you indicated it should be. I don't have a Controlset003. So not my solution it appears. If you have another suggestion, I'll check it.
I hesitate to use a 3rd party sw product as I've not had good experience related to regedit with them.
I'll go ahead and check w/MS 7 before giving up on a solution.
Thanks anyway!

Found below solution when searching MS Support:
Error code 0x8100002F and or error code 0x80070002 when you back up files in Windows 7
In following the Scenario 2 resolution, it worked! My Win 7 Backup now completes without skipped files successfully and closes the Backup. Hurrah!

That hapened to me and what I did I logged into the Administrator account and di a search for *.doc. If you have any account that you have never logged in there will be no searhes , music etc, but the system is not very bright is it? That's how I fixed the Administrator Searches Issue.
