System: Pavilion a6554f
Original disk: 750G Seagate
Replacement disk: 1Tb Seagate
Ran my system recovery disks. Installed the windows partition successfully, but indicates that "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware".
Afterwards, computer prompts to reinstall windows....
Only change from previous operating condition is the hard disk change. Previous hard disk is dead...
Asked same question earlier today, but only response was if I bought the disk from HP...I did not.
HELP! I can't be the first user to see this issue....

Some older systems may have issues with newer hard drives that employ a new sectoring mode called AF - or advanced format. If you see the letters AF on the hard drive - that could explain it.
If so - try going to the BIOS setup on your system, and change the storage controller mode from the default setting to some other setting. I think for your system with a Benicia motherboard, it was set to RAID mode - you might try AHCI or another mode and see if that allows it to work.
Good luck - let me know if this works or doesn't...

I tried changing the RAID mode to AHCI earlier...no change.
Could it be that windows is not allowing installation on a new disk?
