a1130n windows 7 dvd burner not burning

I have an HP Pavililion a1130n presently running Windows 7. Recently my DVD burners stopped burning. I have 2 installed - Optiaric DVD RW AD-7240S ATA and 7280 ATA. I have tried everything even a clean reinstall of the Windows 7 program. After the reinstall I can burn 1 DVD - then no more. I get error "0xC0AA0301". I have BIOS 3.47 on the system. Somehow I beleiev there is some sort of BIOS communication issue - any ideas on correction?

Try MS FixIt:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

Have you used  ImgBurn for burning?

Re: a1130n windows 7 dvd burner not burning

MSFix it did not work. I have uninstalled the drives and rebooted - does not work. I have used Imgburn - does not work. After clean reinstall of Windows 7 I have not reinstalled Imgburn - simply used the MS program for burning - thus the error. I am at a loss at this point.

Re: a1130n windows 7 dvd burner not burning

I have previously reviewed that page to no avail. I have attempted almost everything I can think of. I believe I will simply revert back to XP as I have no issue on that platform. Thanks for your assistance.

Re: a1130n windows 7 dvd burner not burning

You're welcome, sorry we couldn't solve the issue. I have seen more problems posted about CD/DVD drives on Vista & Windows 7 than ever on XP. Even drives disappearing completely.Had hoped MS would get the issue resolved by Win 7 release...

Re: a1130n windows 7 dvd burner not burning

Update.......before returning to XP I tried one last thing that seems to be working. My original setup had IDE optical drives. I had replaced them with SATA drives some time ago and had no issues until very recently. I installed an IDE/SATA converter and everything seems to be working fine thus far. Apparently some Windows 7 update was creating a conflict with my BIOS. I have successfully burned a few discs since I installed the converter. I hope this helps others who may be having the same problem.
