how do we sub-divide hard drives?eg. C is only 20% full, and D is almost full, so make both evenly full so the computer is faster?

Here are the specs for your Compaq Presario SR5250NX Desktop Computer. According to the specs, your computer has one 320GB hard drive that is already divided into two partition; C: & D: "Sub-dividing" the hard drive even more will not make the computer faster and may in fact render the D: (Factory / Recovery) partition non-functional. The D: partition should be around 10 - 15GB and almost full but not to the point of it turn red. No other data should be written to the D: partition.
Items that could make your computer faster include; performing a HP Recovery to reinstall Windows, installing a newer faster CPU, and install more memory.

Thanks Frank, you r a geat help.
my parition D in the hard drive is showing in red colour, 7+ GB used out of 8.72.. my drive C is only 20% full out of 289GB do I still need more memory? I checked the folders in D, all r recovery related, no extra stuff.so I cant delete any files from D.
the items u told me to fix the problem, performing a HP Recovery to reinstall Windows (vista home premium)
make sense. I might as well do that. Would you be kind enough to send me links or steps to do this. THANKS
yaar

The hard drive is not the same as memory. The hard drive is a permanent storage device, while memory is a temporary working device. The recovery will eliminate all clutter of the OS and the extra memory (should you decide to do it) will allow the system to work more efficiently.
Creating the Recovery Disc Set (Make these if you haven't already done so)
Performing an HP System Recovery

Hi,
last three days been bussy doing fixing, but not all successfull.
Did the folowing as described in the links you provided:
- created the Recovery Disc Sets
- Performed HP system Recovery:
- did my flies and data back up in 3 dvds (DVD+R)
- did system recovery to factory- purchased points
computer is not slow or 'not responding' anymore; driveC look nice and empty; drive D (factory_images) still red (831 MB free of 8.72 GB); all drives(removable) show all Blue Pie at Properties.
Windows Vista installed
internet connected
some programs re-installed...so far ok
tried to restore my back up from 3 DVDS; its stopped after I inserted the 3rd DVD......nothing happened for so long, and I ended up by just closing the 'insert 3rd DVD' window..........no pictures or my data or other personel setting restored.
I tried many times to restore by back up files with dif options but its not doing any restoration; I cant find an option that says" restore files from back-up DVD made in this computer for all users''; when I insert the DVDs its just not opening or doing anything???? can you halp please?
FYI: dvd 1 of 3 showing in properties: 'disc 3' (I dont know why????) AutoRun..setup info
dvd 2 of 3 showing : 'disc1' (why????) Backup.3.fbw
dvd3 of 3 showing: 'disc1' (again why???) Backup.4.fbw FBW file
so these are the disc discription if its any help in solving my problem of restoring my files so I get my data.
Can you give further suggestions? thanks

I am not certain how this process works but most information on the internet suggests starting the restore using the "RestoreWiz.exe" file. It also suggests renaming "Backup.#.fbw" to "Backup.00#.fbw
Maybe start a new thread with a new topic and the pros in this area will chime in.
