Hi,
I bought my Pavilion Slimline s3120n about a 9 months. Starting about two months ago, it happened to fail to bootup at power on, about one or two times a week. When I power on the pc, the harddisk and cd drive indicator response a few flashes then stop, only the pc power indicator and monitor indicator remains on, after few seconds, the monitor showed "no signal from pc" then turned to standby mode, the pc besides the powerlight on, also sounds from the cooling fans and the cd or harddisk rotating noise, but stills there. I have to press and hold the power button to switch off and back on again.
This situation happened more and more frequent recently, and now, it can only normally bootup once for more then 10 to 20 trials. please note, the pc works good and normal when bootup.
I have tried the release static charge methods and plugging the memory cards few times, useless. Can anyone or the hp expert help?

This sounds like your PC may be entitled to have the motherboard replaced:
It fits the description. If I were you, I wouldn't bang my head agains the wall any more. Call HP Support and refer the support agent to the document number "c01514044".

Hello, Floza, I did the display card driver updated before, it wouldn't help, as it is not the source of problem. I was lucky to have my MB replaced by the factory and fix the problem. If I am not able to send back to factory, I still would try everything possible on the mother board, say, updating the MB installation files, inf files, bios, cpu driver, physically clean the MB contacts and connectors, take off the CPU, the battery and restore it, and carefully examine the MB for cracks or scratches or cold joints whenever possible. If it still doesn't work, God kills me! Try to get a new MB.
