I'm having a problem, when I start my computer I receive a message dmw.exe can not be found. It causes the system not to recognize my graphics card. It also prevent some graphics component of some programs not to work or work improperly. I have windows 7 64 bit professional edition. I've been ill but today I found it is a known issue. I'm still not up to par but I'm hoping someone here has seen the problem and can provide directions to a solution. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide

Hello jimmy1one, The dmw.exe is a Windows system file, desktop management window executable.
Here is a link that may provide some information on this file. It is a critical windows system file.
If it is missing or corrupt you may experience all sorts of issues and especially viewing different desktop windows.
This file is located in the C:\Windows\system32 folder and has a size of 118KB.
If your system is stable enough, you might try and use Windows Explorer and perform a search for this file. If you manage to locate a copy of it, you can try to copy it to the folder suggested above. Since this is a Windows system file, you may not be able to do this.
If you have the Windows 7 Pro DVD, you could put it in the optical drive. It may try to autorun, and if so just close out of it.
Then click on the Start orb and in the run box, type sfc /scannow (note the space between the sfc /)
This command will search your system for any missing or currupt files and if any are found will attempt to replace or install the version from the Windows 7 DVD.
You might also could try a Windows Restore back to a point before this issue appeared.
Keep us updated as to you success or lack thereof.

Hello jimmy1one, You might try downloading DirectX from Microsoft at this Link , install it and see if this resolves the issue.

Hi Hanspuppa
First I apologize for getting back to you so late. I've continued to be ill I had to wait for the doctor to release me before getting back on the computer my wife was having a fit. So far I have been able to get it down to 2 issues after fixing d3d10_1.dll. Now I only get 0xc000007b and d3d10_1.core.dll is not on your system. I can see d3d10_1.core.dll so I think I have not completed the installation permissions properly or I need to do something in the registry. I do not have any windows DVD or CD I upgraded from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64 using the disk from HP. I'm afraid to roll back the system to Vista so I'm going to have to work this out myself.
The link you provided dl'ed OK but it asked where to extract the files which stopped me in my tracks. I would think windows would recognize the Directx files and know where they should be installed. I also installed and ran the 0xc000007b correction tool with no change in the error message leading me to believe it is a registry issue. I'm going to try to find out what I should have done to activate the d3d10_1.core.dll and see if can get it to work. Thanks for all your help if you know where I should have put as the location for the extract I'm thinking C\Windows\System 32 let me know

Hello jimmy1one, Normally when installation files are extracted, they are extracted to a temp, folder and then installed from there. Most of the time Windows will ask where you want these extracted files to be extracted to, just in case you may want them in a certain place. The default location usually works just fine.
The Windows 7 upgrade disk should have this file on it, but it would be in a compressed state and would need to be extracted to the full expanded file. This can be a little complicated to do if you are not familiar with this procedure.
The C:\Windows\System32 folder, or sub-folder, is where the files should eventually end up. If the installation of the directx went as it should, these files should have been installed and any registry entries should have been made.
You might try just reinstalling dirextx and let it extraxct to where it wants, and see if it will install successfully.
