garbled characters in setup,bios

all of a sudden my xp stopped working,and I got a full screen of zeros on the monitor.I cannot handle the setup and the bios because is full of characters other than letters, mixed with letters,when i try to use the recovery (F10) i get nowhere.i have a pavilion dual core processor.can somebody help.thanks

Sounds like a video card issue.Do you have a video card or onboard graphics?
